Is Ogg Vorbis better than mp3 ?
|
Ogg Vorbis has been designed to replace proprietary, patented audio formats.
Music compressed with Ogg Vorbis sounds better than music compressed as mp3 -
by the same file size. HEFFLEYRECORDS uses quality 6 while compressing raw audio
to Ogg Vorbis, so the resulting Ogg Vorbis file has very-near-CD-quality, lossless
stereo coupling.

Why Ogg Vorbis instead of mp3 ?
|
There are good reasons, why we decided to choose Ogg Vorbis as our prefered
compression format. Ogg Vorbis simply sounds better than mp3. The Ogg Vorbis
format is completely free, open, and unpatented. The source code for the codec
is freely available for all interested poeple. Because it is a free and unpatented
codec, artists and labels don't need to pay licensing fees for compressing music.

Ogg Vorbis on the MAC
|
Ogg Vorbis is currently not directly supported by Quicktime or iTunes.
You can install VLC media player for Mac OS for free from
here and download the Sample
files to your harddisk first before playing them with the VLC media player for Mac OS.
But iTunes can play Ogg Vorbis too ! (making iTunes a Ogg capable player)
Thanks to the OggVorbis QuickTime component on http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/download.html
you can add support for Ogg Vorbis to iTunes.
1. Download the Xiph QuickTime Components binary package to your harddrive.
2. Double-clicking on it.
3. The installer copies files to your system folders.
4. Possibly you need to restart your system.
5. Enjoy Ogg Vorbis in iTunes
Please note, that streaming doesn't work yet in iTunes. That means, you need to
download the Ogg Vorbis music to your harddrive first, before playing it with iTunes.

I can't hear the Ogg Vorbis sample, if i click on Play Sample
|
On some system installations the streaming of the Sample music to your music player
doesn't work the expected way. The track info is visible, but no sound.
In such a case please click on "Download Sample" instead of "Play Sample". You can now
save the Sample to your harddisk and play it from there with your Ogg capable player.
